Who Are We?
The Stewart Centre @ EIT was established in February 1999. It is a co-operative venture involving the Brain Injury Association of Hawke’s Bay and EIT Hawke’s Bay.
We are open from Monday to Friday, 9am – 3pm and are staffed by three full time staff members and two part timers. Clients attend for a variety of days according to their needs.
Our Focus
The Stewart Centre @ EIT provides rehabilitation for people with brain injuries. Our focus is on social, cognitive, educational and pre-vocational rehabilitation.
Who is Eligible?
Most people attending the Stewart Centre @ EIT are funded by either ACC or the Ministry of Health through Bay Home Support. Self funding is also an option. A referral to the Stewart Centre @ EIT usually comes from a rehabilitation practitioner such as an occupational therapist or people self-refer.

Our History - The first Stewart Centre was established in Auckland by Alex and Mary Stewart in 1991 after their son Tommy's accident in Australia. There are now 7 Stewart Centres in the North Island.
